Breathe In, Breathe Out

The breathing techniques in Yoga create a better self- awareness of the inhaling and exhaling experience- thus resulting calmer, slower respiration.  As the state of the mind and that of the body are intimately related; the muscles in the body will be relaxed, when the mind is relaxed.

The focus on breathing allows the emotional stress, random thoughts to pass and reverts the mind to focus, releasing tension and stiffness in the muscles. It’s no surprise that that Yoga practice is far more effective in reducing anxiety than any drug therapy.

Through the practice of yoga, we become aware of the interconnectedness between our emotional, mental and physical levels. Gradually this awareness leads to an understanding of the more subtle areas of existence.

Yogic methods cover the entire field of our existence – from the physical, sensory, emotional, mental, and spiritual to the highest Self-realization. The very essence of Yoga lies in attaining mental peace, improved concentration powers, a relaxed state of living and harmony in relationships.

Yoga is successful because of the balance created in the nervous and endocrine systems which directly influences all the other systems and organs of the body.  In yoga, physical postures and breathing exercises improve muscle strength, flexibility, blood circulation and oxygen uptake as well as hormone functions. Physiological benefits help yoga practitioners become more resilient to stressful conditions and reduce a variety of important risk factors for various diseases, especially cardio-respiratory diseases.

Yoga is both as a curative and preventive therapy.
