Detoxing with Surya Yoga

I sat down with Josephine (Jo) and asked her about her plans for the detox retreat to Janda Baik this year. She explained that her intention is truly to educate people on the benefits of a detox program. Jo's detox program consists of pure, healthy and fresh fruit juices that participants will have to consume every few hours.

There will be activities such as learning how to prepare healthy meals as well as juices. This will be important as well when it comes to breaking the detox fast. Jo said that after a detox, we shouldn't eat as we normally would immediately. We need to break our detox fast the right way, the gradual way.

She will be conducting as well a Yin and Meridien workshop with Lily Cheong. Yin yoga is a slower paced type of yoga that works on connective tissues to increase circulation in the joints and improve on flexibility. Apart from that, we will have an agnihotra sessions as well!

What is agnihotra? I was pretty stumped as well when I heard this particular term. Jo explained that it is a process of purifying the atmosphere through a specially prepared fire usually performed at sunrise and sunset. Agnihotra reduces stress and leads to greater clarity of thought, improves overall health, gives one increased energy and makes the mind more full of love.

James will be accompanying us to our detox retreat in Janda Baik this year. Would you like to find out what James has in store for the retreat participants?

First of all, he will teaching us a special type of massage called the trigger point massage. It's basically to massage the muscles entangled in the body.  He also explained that what he plans to teach would be very different from what he will teach in his upcoming workshop. He plans to design a specific program to help with the detox experience.

James will be focusing on the emotional and mental part of detox while Jo will be focusing on the more physical and therapeutic side. There are four quadrants that are involved; Mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. Everything must be balanced. Did you know that James created his very own special blend of massage oils?

What else is in store? Aromatherapy yoga massage! Sound enticing doesn't it? It's a 3 part combination. James mentioned that the aromatherapy aspect heals and soothes the emotional and mental aspect, while the massage itself focuses on the physical aspect. At night, James will be serenading us helping us sleep blissfully during the detox. He will be using his voice toning skills as well as other music tools.

There will be pool activities as well which includes water meditation at night to help with emotional baggage and to cleanse our soul and chakras that will help bring about self realization. I myself am really excited about our detox retreat this year! I'm excited that James will be helping out this year.

What's up next in James's life? He will be enhancing his skills in massage. He will also be conducting another workshop teaching us the 'zen and thai yoga massage'. A special preview will be given during the detox.

Response has been great for the detox retreat this year at Janda Baik, Pahang this July. Spots are still available. Do contact Jo at 016 2027417 for more information.
