Who says healthy
food isn’t filling or delicious? My food-trip to Surya Yoga recently is a
definite dispute of those assumptions.
Join me as I uncover a full course meal which was not only yummy, but also
felt good in the tummy.
For starters, I
had the pumpkin soup which contains pumpkin and croutons. It was sweet, with
crunchy croutons and lightly seasoned, which is nice because taste is often
relative. For example, one person may have a different opinion of whether
something is salty enough for them than the next individual. It’s a great
appetizer to start with. Did you know that for 100g of pumpkin intake rewards
us with 20 calories? It is also free from any saturated fats and cholesterol. Pumpkin
intake also pumps us full of anti-oxidant vitamins such as vitamin-A, vitamin-C
and vitamin-E.
While eating, I
noticed the humble and cozy appearance of Surya Yoga’s ambience. Pops of
orange, black and white were refreshing and friendly to the eye. The staff,
amongst them Ms Josephine Chan and Ms Elisha were very warm and friendly as
well. Speaking of refreshing, I had
relinquished my thirst with a juice known as Good Eye. It really was a nice
blend of carrots and oranges which packs loads of vitamin A (good for the
eyes), and vitamin C (contained in oranges-packs us which helps to prevent from
colds).
Next in line was
a salad called “Thai Chicken Crunch”.
This contains a sweet and tangy combination of pineapples, chicken, and
tomatoes; coupled with crunchy cucumbers and peanuts. This salad also had a
sweet-sour and slightly spicy finish, the thai chili dressing. Attention weight
–watchers: cucumbers and pineapples helps one with weight loss (due to its low
calorie content).
The following course
was the main, which was the Chicken Wrap. The wrap contained an interesting and
delightful combination of chicken, cheese, and tomatoes. The wrap was slightly
crunchy with the cheese which had melted very nicely in the wrap. The cheese is
a good source of calcium, whereas chicken is an excellent source of protein.
Last, but not least was the dessert. It was
kind of like a mango yoghurt parfait which contained mangoes, cornflakes, and
yoghurt. The mangoes were sweet, the
yoghurt was light and creamy and the cornflakes added a delightful crunch.
Health benefits from this dessert include potassium from the mangoes (which
helps one their heart rate and blood pressure), yoghurt (helps with digestion),
and cornflakes (low calorie content).By the time I had finished last bite of
desert, I was full in a very healthy way. The food felt very freshly home-made
with natural ingredients.
That tops the
full course menu from the Juice and Salad Bar at Surya Yoga. Thank you for
