Kwai Fong's Weight Loss Journey



Kwai Fong is one of Surya Yoga's vibrant family members. She is a ray of sunshine and we are proud to have her in our family. We were attending Theresa's (another Surya Yoga family member) wedding and whilst our many conversations over food, fun and laughter, Kwai Fong told us all about her story. Many have noticed her weight loss progression, but we never really found out how events had played out.

It all began with a girl with very little confidence. She was clumsy, had low self esteem and was often afraid of buying new clothes. She often felt unhappy and uncomfortable in her own body. She was a happy, vibrant person inside, but it never showed on the outside. There came a point to even when her husband was too embarrassed to take her out to events. Perhaps he was afraid that Kwai Fong might feel uncomfortable to a certain extent. Much sadness and hurt did Kwai Fong feel.

She ventured into slimming centers to lose weight at first. There were quick results but it was not long lasting. It just didn't work for her.

One day, she stumbled upon one of our Surya Yoga flyers and advertisements. That was the start of her weight loss journey. The turning point she said, that made her decide to make a lifestyle change was that she wanted to feel better about herself and wanted to rekindle her relationship with her husband. In some ways, if you don't love yourself, it is rather difficult to love others completely and wholeheartedly.  

Kwai Fong, with much determination, will power and bravery, signed up with Surya Yoga and started going for yoga classes, not only 1-2 times a week but 3-4 times! She fell in love with yoga instantly. Yoga is all about learning to love yourself and appreciating your own body. Recognize it's limitations but also strengths and capabilities.

Weight loss was slow and steady, as most professionals would recommend to be the best for maintenance and general health. It took her 1 year to lose over 10kg.

What does Kwai Fong have say to everyone? Her advice would be that exercise is very important. She says with much passion that she will never ever give up yoga! It's the only form of exercise she loves. She points out as well that it is best to not eat after 7pm.

She inspires many at Surya Yoga. She has been one of our many loyal customers and we would love to congratulate Kwai Fong for successfully gaining back not only the respect from her husband, but also finding and loving herself through her weight loss journey and experience.

Her self esteem continues to rise. She is no longer that clumsy girl that is afraid of trying new things and new clothes. She is now adventurous, physically strong and is looking forward to life and it's character building challenges.

Her journey started with a decision to change. The first step is usually the hardest but she says with much conviction and belief, that it is worth the effort!
